Volvo is a Swedish company which manufactured cars and the meaning of Volvo in Swedish means “I roll”.
The company was started in 1911 and that’s when the name was officially registered. The Volvo existed as accompany for along time just in the registers and initial 1926 the Volvo Group had no activities. Then the SKF manager Assar Gabrielsson and engineer Gustavson Larson started preparing the set up the Volvo AB Company and has at least 10 prototypes to be released.

The Volvo OV 4 was the first Volvo automobile manufactured by the Volvo Company. The Volvo’s first car was manufactured in the Goteborg facility in 1927. Volvo as an automobile company manufactured trucks and heavy transport vehicles like buses and transport trucks initially. The first truck was presented to the world in 1928. AT that time Volvo was the only company which produced transport vehicles and it soon n earned a name in the developed part of the world. There was a lot of demand for their trucks across the world and this made Volvo to make arrangements to export their vehicles soon after. They started their export branch in 1930 finally. Volvo also has been manufacturing Marine engines as much as it manufactured trucks and then they soon started manufacturing aircraft engines.

Soon enough it ventured out into cars also but not for long did they fully involved themselves in the car business. They realized it needs a lot more updating than trucks, buses and airplanes. On every other day there is anew car literally in the market. This made Volvo Group sell their Volvo Car Corporation to Ford Motor Company and the entire transaction took place for a whopping USD $6.45 Billion. The focus after being taken over by Ford for the Volvo Car Corporation is now commercial vehicles and it is working towards creating more commercial vehicles in the form of transport and goods carrying huge vehicles.
